Cimex Inc., the official distributor of BYD in Nepal, is showcasing the Yangwang U8 plug-in hybrid SUV at the ongoing BYD Hi-Tech Week in Kathmandu.
Yangwang, BYD's premium sub-brand, has equipped the U8 with a plug-in hybrid system that boasts an impressive CLTC range of up to 1,000 km. It features a 49.05 kWh LFP Blade Battery, offering an electric range of 180 km. With a fully charged battery and a 75-liter fuel tank, the U8 can cover 1,000 km without stopping.
Designed to command attention, the Yangwang U8 stands out with its bold styling and robust build. It also introduces two groundbreaking technologies: the e4 platform and the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System.
As a hardcore 1,200hp SUV, the U8 is packed with unique capabilities, including 360-degree tank turns and emergency water wading with a floating function. Weighing approximately 3.5 metric tons, it is powered by four 220 kW electric motors, one on each wheel.
Operating as an all-wheel-drive electric range-extended vehicle (EREV), the U8 features a 2.0-liter turbo petrol engine that serves as a generator for the battery rather than directly powering the wheels.
With a top speed of 200 km/h, the U8 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.6 seconds. Built on the e4 platform, it incorporates the DiSus-P hydraulic body control system, enabling an adjustable ride height of up to 150 mm.
The Yangwang U8 is being showcased at BYD Hi-Tech Week purely as a demonstration of cutting-edge automotive technology. This high-performance SUV is not being launched or sold in the Nepalese market. Its presence highlights BYD's advancements in electrification and next-generation vehicle control systems.
